“I’m shocked by my expulsion from NNPP,” Abdulmumin Jibrin declares

Abdulmumin Jibrin, the member of the House of Representatives for the Kiru/Bebeji constituency, has expressed his astonishment following his expulsion from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).

The suspension was announced on Saturday by the party’s Kano state Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, who cited “anti-party activities” and failure to meet financial obligations as the primary reasons for the decision.

In a statement, Jibrin described the expulsion as a “rude shock,” asserting that recent interviews he conducted did not warrant such a severe response. “I strongly believe the contents of the interview I granted… should not warrant such heavy penalty,” he stated, emphasizing that his views aligned with the principles of the party.

He criticized the party for not allowing him an opportunity to defend himself, which he argued violated the principle of fair hearing. “No invitation was extended to me to defend or explain myself,” he remarked, indicating that even under strict governance, fair processes should be observed.

While expressing disappointment over the unexpected decision, Jibrin pledged to accept the party’s ruling in good faith. “I am therefore obliged to accept the decision of the party in good faith and without grudges,” he noted. He also appealed to the party to avoid further legal action regarding the alleged outstanding dues, stating he had never refused to pay.

Jibrin conveyed his gratitude for the support received during his time with the NNPP and invited his supporters to join him in a new political venture that he plans to announce soon. He concluded with a hopeful message for maintaining peaceful relationships with fellow party members, regardless of their future political affiliations.
