Ilorin crime bust: Serial burglars arrested in Kwara, stolen goods recovered

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully dismantled a notorious burglary syndicate in Ilorin.

This syndicate is allegedly responsible for numerous break-ins at warehouses, stores, and supermarkets in the Apalara Area, along Al-Hikma University Road.

According to Ayoola Michael Shola, the command’s spokesman, “On Monday, May 13, 2024, acting on reliable intelligence, crack detectives from the command’s tracking unit apprehended two suspects, Garuba Kabir, 28, and Nasir Raheem, 30.”

The arrests followed multiple reports from shop owners in the Apalara area who had suffered repeated burglaries, losing valuable items worth millions of naira.

Shola noted, “The suspects had recently targeted four shops along Al-Hikma University and New Yidi Road, Irewolede in Ilorin, stealing goods of significant value.”

Further investigation led detectives to the gang’s storage location, where they recovered stolen goods, including food items, phone accessories, and solar gadgets.

Umar Mohammed, the state commandant, reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities in Kwara. He called on the public to support the command by providing credible information, crucial for the ongoing efforts to prevent and tackle crime effectively.
