President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday opened up that he’ll continue to campaign for the presidential candidate of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.

A presidential media aide, Garba Shehu, made this revelation in a statement, revealing how the president spoke before a massive crowd at the presidential campaign rally in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.

He said the president declared open support for Tinubu and his running mate, Shettima and for the re-election of the governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule.

He commended the supporters of the party for overlooking the harsh hot weather to show their support for the candidates of the party ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

‘‘I congratulate and assure you that God willing, we are going to win through and through. As Tinubu said in his speech, I have known him for more than 20 years ago, and I will continue to campaign for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is a committed Nigerian, and I believe he will give his best to Nigeria.

‘‘Also vote for Abdullahi Sule for a second and final term as governor,’’ he said.

Tinubu said: ‘‘Nigeria is surviving as a nation. Because of constitutional democracy, we would have asked you to continue, but you said no, you are going back to Daura, your hometown,’’ he said.

While dismissing the rumour that there’s misunderstanding between him and the president, Tinubu said ‘‘Those who think there are cracks in our friendship and relationship would continue to be disappointed and have their short times joy limited. Ours is not about the individual but about nation building, honesty, integrity and character,’’ he said.

‘‘We will work hard. We promise you that your children and grandchildren will have no regret about this nation and ourselves,’’ he said.
