I’ll achieve 3rd term gov’ship ambition in Adamawa if constitution permits – Gov Fintiri

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has said that he will achieve a third term governorship ambition if Nigerian constitution gives room for it.

The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the March 18 governorship election in the state boasted that winning a third term bid would not have been difficult for him if the country’s constitution had supported it.

“If the opportunity would be provided for a governor to contest for the third time, I think I am one of those that can win election three times in that state.

“I am one of the most performing governors in the country. Go and carry out your survey. I am one governor that has developed the infrastructure excellently across all the local government areas. I have turned around the state that now looks like Abuja,” he said.

He said the fact that he’s leading in the election, with victory in 16 out of 21 local government areas of the state, shows that the people want him.

The Governor polled 421,524 votes in the election while the female candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Aishatu Binani had 390,275 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has therefore declared the election of the state inconclusive, on the ground that the number of cancelled votes were more than the margin of lead between the two leading candidates.

The Informant247 earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed a new date for all outstanding governorship, national and state assembly elections.

This was revealed by Mr Rotimi Lawrence Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on Monday March 27 in Abuja, the country’s capital.

“Arising from its meeting held today, the INEC has decided that all outstanding governorship, National and state assembly supplementary elections will take place on Saturday 15th April 2023,” Oyekanmi said.

He said a comprehensive official information would be released shortly.

The Informant247 observes that there were cancellation of elections and some others declared inconclusive during the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections and March 18 governorship and state assembly elections across the federation.
