Ilesha-Baruba is Nigeria’s centre of poverty, underdevelopment, Emir laments

The Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, in Baruten LGA of Kwara State, Prof. Halidu Abubakar, has described the town as the centre of poverty and underdevelopment in Nigeria.

Prof. Halidu stated this when he received the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, who a led team of the Nigeria Hydro-Electric Power Producing Area Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) on a needs assessment tour of the community.

The Emir emphasised the need for development interventions in Ilesha Baruba and other parts of Baruten, urging the federal government to provide more assistance for the local government.

“This place is the centre of poverty and underdevelopment in Nigeria,” he said. “You will succeed if you come to places like this and do something tangible to help the people. Whatever effort you can put to our development; no matter how small, it will go a long way.”

Ilesha-Baruba falls under the Ilesha-Gwanara state constituency, which is represented by the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Salihu-Danladi.
