IEDPU president urges urgent action against insecurity
The National President of the llorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Otta Aliy-Uthman has called for urgent action against security challenges confronting the emirate, News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Aliyu-Uthman made the call today in llorin while addressing the inaugural meeting of the National Executive Council of the Union.
He described as unfortunate the security challenges confronting the Emirate and called for urgent action to curb it.
Aliyu-Uthman who is an Ex-Director with the Department of State Security (DSS) noted that smoking of hemp, gambling and other security threats are rampant in various parts of the llorin Emirate.
According to him “The Union alone cannot solve the problem of insecurity alone, all hands must be on deck to collectively tackle the problem,” he said.
He noted that no meaningful development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos, acrimony and insecurity.
He also solicited the support and cooperation of all the National Executive Council members to achive success in the task ahead.
The inaugural NEC meeting of the Union was attended by the immediate past National President of the union, Alhaji Yahaya Ahmed and dome Elders of the Union.
It will be recalled that the newly elected Executive members of the union emerged on the 26th of December 2019 during the 54th National Delegates confetence of the Union held at Fufu, headquarters of the local South local government area of the state.
The inaugural meeting featured the swearing-in of 54 Ex-officio members of the union drawned from various feilds of human endeavours by the National Secretary of the Union Prof AbdulHamid Oba.
