Ganiyu Shina, the 49-year-old man of Oguji Street, Obantoko, Abeokuta, who was arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for bathing with blood at a community river, in Odeda Local Government, has explained that he was instructed by herbalist to bathe with blood.
Informant247 gathered, the suspect was arrested by when members of the community sighted him at the River bank, where he parked his Nissan commercial vehicle, came out with a local sponge and a container filled with blood, and started bathing with it.
Upon sighting people watching him, he took to his heels but was chased and apprehended by members of the community.
Meanwhile, a member of the community made a call to Aregbe Divisional headquarters and the DPO, SP Bunmi Asogbon quickly led the patrol team to the scene, where the suspect was taken to the station.
While interrogating him, the suspect claimed to have a spiritual problem, and that a herbalist instructed him to perform the ritual, claiming that the blood in his possession was not human, but that of a cow.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the remaining blood should be taken for laboratory analysis, to ascertain whether it’s human blood or not.
However, CP Bankole praised members of the community for not taking laws into their hands, he, therefore, assured them that the suspect will be properly investigated.
