“I carry water, not alcohol”: K1 De Ultimate apologises over airport incident

Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued an apology regarding an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.

In a statement released on Friday, the renowned singer expressed regret over the situation while clarifying that his flask contained only water, countering allegations of alcohol use.

“The incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate,” K1 stated.

He further explained that he suffers from chronic dehydration and has been advised by his doctor to remain hydrated, which is why he carries a water flask with him.

“Contrary to the negative narrative being circulated in some quarters, the flask contained only water — not alcohol,” he emphasized, detailing that the flask was empty during two separate security checks and was only filled at the airport lounge before he headed to the tarmac.

K1 also asserted that he had not yet boarded the aircraft and invited verification of his account through CCTV footage. He extended his apologies to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, ValueJet, and the Nigerian public.

“I acknowledge and deeply regret the concerns that arose from the incident. It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols,” he added, reiterating his loyalty to Nigeria and his commitment to preserving the positive image he has built over the past fifty years.

The Fuji star concluded by expressing his dedication as a cultural ambassador for Nigerian music and extending gratitude to his fans for their ongoing support.
