I am still in race for Senate President, I don’t know about APC zoning – Yari

A Senator-elect and the former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari has claimed that he wasn’t aware of any zoning of the position of the Senate President by the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Yari, while addressing the newsmen on the sidelines of the induction ceremony for newly elected and returning members of the Nigerian Senate, insisted he’s still in the race for the Senate President.

He said, “Every lawmaker has the right to seek elective position”.

Recall that the APC had nominated Godswill Akpabio as its anointed candidate for the position of Senate President, with Jubril Barry as his running mate.

However, Yari said that he will keep seeking the support of other senators, stating that the position of the Senate President is first among equals among the 109 senators.

He added that he’s a loyal party man, and he wasn’t informed of any zoning anywhere as far as the 10th National Assembly is concerned.
