How VAPP Law in Kwara saved me from judicial oppression, nepotism – Hon AbdulHameed Alli
Former TIC Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government Hon. AbdulHameed Oladipupo Alli, popularly known as Mr Nigeria, has commended the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for domesticating the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act into Law after the passage of the Bill by the Kwara State House of Assembly in the year 2020.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon. Atiku Bahinda Abdulsalam, at his Governor’s Office in Ilorin on Thursday, Alli said that the Governor has done so well by domesticating the VAPP Law in Kwara State, which is now giving protection to hundreds of citizens including himself who also presented a petition against the nepotism in Kwara State Judiciary to him for Governor AbdulRazaq’s attention and action.
He, therefore , said that with the discovery of the VAPP Law and Office of SA Civic Engagement, the Governor has given him and several other oppressed ones in Kwara State, the opportunity to challenge their oppressors in a competent court of law since the VAPP law has been designed to protect victims like him and others in his shoes in the society.
He appreciated the Governor for creating the Office of Special Adviser, Civic Engagement for the first time in the history of of Kwara state and for appointing Hon. Atiku, who has both Legislative and Community Relations knowledge, as its first appointee.
Alli, informed the gathering that he would have been forced on exile by judicial persecution , if he had not discovered that the Governor had domesticated the VAPP Act into Law and created office of the Special Adviser on Civic Engagement who had been calling on citizens through advocacy visits on radio and television programs.
He stated that with the VAPP Law, he could write a petition to the Governor against those oppressing him in the judiciary, stressing that he is a victim and however seek for both legal and every other support provided for victims in the said Act.
The former TIC Chairman asked the Kwara State Government to vindicate him without fear or favour.
Alli further said that he had written some petitions to both the Governor and Chief Judge of Kwara State,Hon. Justice Durosinlohun Kawu, regarding some rots, nepotism and favoritism he personally experienced in the Kwara State Judiciary in the past when the families of the Chief Judge, another High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Titi Daibu and retired Grand KHADI, Hon. Justice S. O. Muhammad, have used their relationship in the judiciary to oppress him despite having a subsisting judgment in his favour.
Narrating his ordeal in the hands of judicial officers, his estrange wife and law enforcement officers, the former TIC chairman said he has filed a direct complaint against a retired Kwara State Grand Khadi for Inciting, aiding ,coercing his estranged wife against his physical and psychological well being contrary to sections 2(3),2(4),3,6,13,34 of the VAPP law.
He said, “Relying on the provision of the VAPP Act, I have equally filed another Direct Criminal Complaint against my ex-wife and daughter of Hajia Nusiratu Kawu, who has refused to abide by the subsisting judgment of the Upper Area Court, with whom the former Grand KHADI S.O. Muhammad conspired to indict me in a letter purportedly written to the court which was later found never to have gotten to the court”.
“She has been enjoying the overwhelming support of her mother being a step mother to the Chief Judge and a co-wife to Justice Titi Daibu, to continue disobeying court order instead of compelling her to do same”.
He, used the opportunity to plead with well meaning Nigerians to appeal to the conscience of retired grand khadi S.O. Muhammed, to ensure immediate payment of the money for the publication he commissioned him to do for the Maulid Nabiyi Committee, which he has refused to pay since October 2021, as another way of taking vengeance on him for not dancing to their tunes.
The SA on Civic Engagement, Hon. Atiku Bahinda Abdulsalam, described the Governor as a leader who is not just liberating women and youths but one with total leadership foresight which enabled him to domesticate the VAPP Law, which is now protecting some Kwarans against violent attacks among family or friends.
He thanked TEAM GOAL MOVEMENT for nominating the Governor for the prestigious DOYEN OF DOWN- TRODDEN AWARD and promised to deliver the award letter, the proposal for collaboration and petitions to the Governor for approval.
The Special Adviser to Governor, called on citizens to collaborate with the Kwara State government through the Civic Engagement office, in creating awareness for government policies and programs.
