Karim Benzema has officially joined Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad in a three year contract with an opting to stay until 2026.
He bid Real Madrid farewell over the weekend after spending 14 seasons with the Los Blancos.
Benzema leaves as the player with the most titles in the club’s history (25, like Marcelo). He is also the club’s second top scorer with 353 goals.
His new deal will make him the highest paid player on the planet, behind only Christiano Ronaldo.
He will be paid 100 million euros per season, plus a bonus of 20 million euros to work as an ambassador for the 2030 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia is bidding to host.
He is expected to earn nothing less than 220 million euros, and it could reach 320 million euros.
The french striker will also have an opportunity to explore as to the fact that there is no income tax in Saudi Arabia and as such, he will have very important tax advantages.
