Ballon d’Or is one of the most prestigious award in the world of football. For any winner of the award in any categories, it’s more than just an award but a fulfilment of a long time dream.

Not entirely made up of gold, the Ballon d’or is first shaped from a wax-like material, while the surface of the ball is covered with five kilograms of 18-carat gold.
Other materials mixed with the yellow metal, are brass, pyrite, and wax-like material. It’s was crafted by French jeweler Mellerio dits Meller, with 31 centimeters, 23 centimeters in diameter and about 7 kilograms in weight.
