How generator explosion caused Canadian embassy fire incident in Abuja, killed 2
The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has revealed what led to a tragic incident resulting in the death of two Nigerians on Monday at the Canadian Embassy in Abuja.
According to FEMA’s spokesperson, Nkechi Isa, a diesel tank explosion was responsible for the fire that engulfed a section of the diplomatic building.
Isa explained that the diesel tank exploded around 10:45 am in the generator house of the High Commission while a five-person team from JMD company was servicing two MIKANO generators. One of the generators was operational, and the other was undergoing maintenance when a tank containing 2,000 liters of diesel exploded.
Tragically, two of the personnel servicing the generator lost their lives in the explosion, while the remaining two sustained severe burns and were transported to the Trauma Centre at the National Hospital in Abuja.
