It was all an historic night for Nigerian football as men and women of the Nigerian teams dominated the scene at the 2023 CAF awards.
While Victor Osimhen became the first Nigerian male footballer to claim the CAF best male footballer award in 24 years, it was also Asisat Oshoala’s record extending sixth time as she won the women’s best footballer.
The duo of Osimhen and Oshoala who also made the CAF best eleven both in the male and female categories performed excellently for country and club sides under the year in review.
The prestigious 2023 CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco and it’s a prelude to the AFCON 2023 scheduled to be hold in Cote D’Ivoire next year’s January.
Another notable feat of the night also saw Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie winning the inaugural Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons also emerged as the best female football team of the year.
Monday night will remain a night to remember for Nigerian football lovers with the dominance of the country’s men and women on the award lists.
