Hisbah Board negates arresting youths for having same-sex marriages

The Kano State Hisbah Board has denied arresting 78 minors at the White House Restaurant in Nasarawa GRA, Kano, for allegedly indulging in same-sex marriages.

However, the board’s Commander-General, Dr Harun Ibn-Sina, stated that the 47 young males and 31 under-aged girls were caught for indulging in illegal activities after a tip from a good Samaritan.

“The young men and women were found in compromising positions using narcotics, while preparations (by them) were in full swing for the start of a birthday party,” Ibn-Sina said in a statement released by the board on Wednesday.

Due to the high level of moral degeneration in society, he defined youths as the leaders of future and asked their parents and guardians to be more alert.

He also stated that the board has begun an investigation into the incident and that parents and guardians of those arrested will be invited to take any required action.

The Hisbah board has also reaffirmed its commitment to sanitizing Kano State and ridding it of all types of vices, according to the statement.
