High chief, three others abducted as gunmen attack Kwara community

A local chief and three other teenagers were on Tuesday night, abducted after suspected gunmen invaded the Afin community, Ile-Ire district of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State

According to a report, the state police command confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the abduction.

DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, while giving an account of the incident, identified the local chief as Simon Ibiwoye, who is the Olukotun of Afin community and three other teenagers, adding that it was the “Kabiyesi of the community who informed the police about the development”.

Ejire-Adeyemi said, “The abducted victims were taken to an unknown location, but on the receipt of the information, a team of the military, police and local hunters swung into action and stormed the bush where they were able to arrest three alleged informants linked to the suspected armed kidnappers now on the run.”

“A cell phone was recovered on which the pictures of the suspected armed kidnappers were seen for easy identification.

“The alleged informants have been handed over to the anti-kidnapping unit of the state police command in Ilorin to continue the investigation,” she added.

Adeyemi further stated that the search for the victims was ongoing.
