The Hausa community in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, has called the attention of state government to the controversy surrounding the nomination of Mall. Nasiru Bala Iliasu as the new Sarki Hausawa of Jebba by the District Head of Lanwa, Alh. Aliyu Larongbe Gambari, describing it as hilarious and unacceptable.

The community dissociated itself from the nomination, describing it as an act of imposition and outright despotism on the Hausa Community by the District Head of Lanwa.

This was signed in a statement jointly signed by the community stakeholders, and made available to newsmen on Monday.

The statement claimed that community had never at any time recommended Nasiru Bala to the District Head of Lanwa Alh.Larongbe.

They clarified that it must be known that the stool of Sarki Hausawa in Jebba is not restricted to an household or family, adding that every hausa in Jebba is entitled to the title.

The statement read partly, “It is worthwhile to note, however, and for record purpose and avoidance of ambiguities, the community had never settled for or recommend Nasiru Bala to the District Head of Lanwa Alh.Larongbe

“To our greatest surprise, and fretting, and above all hilarious to the leadership of Hausa Community in Jebba for District head of Lanwa to have taken such dangerous step without  consulting the leadership of the community.

“To set record straight, the stool of Sarki Hausawa in Jebba, is not stagnated or restricted in one household or family. In as much as you are an indigene of the community, you are entitled to contest for the stool of leadership, it is not an inheritance title, it goes from one household to another.

“However, there were two households that led the leadership of Sarkin Hausawa, which after their demised, the stool metamorphosed to the household of the immediate late Sarki, which one of his son Nasiru Bala has been parading himself and had since called to order by the Hausa community in Jebba ward and was succumbed to the stringent warning extends to him. To our surprised and very unfortunate, on 24th December, 2020, the news making round on the social media in video clip, that he Nasiru was nominated by the District Head of Lanwa. This is totally and completely against the wish of Hausa Community in Jebba ward and its environs.

“Finally, Hausa Community disassociate and condemns this imposture and despotism on the Hausa Community by the District Head of Lanwa. We enjoined him to abstain in what is not the interest of the community for the sake of peace that has been for decades in the community. He should not cause fracas and fire on the mountain to the community.”
