HAM foundation announces 500 beneficiaries for Manko 1.0 grant award
The HAM Foundation has announced the successful selection of 500 beneficiaries for the Manko 1.0 Grant Award, which spans all five Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kwara North.
This initiative is aimed at supporting students across various educational levels, marking a significant step in the foundation’s commitment to educational empowerment.
In a statement signed by the Director of Projects, Programs, and Communications, Suleiman Abduljalil, the foundation revealed that 1,588 applications were received and thoroughly reviewed.
Suleiman said that the selection process was based on merit, academic excellence, and the proper submission of required documents.
He explained that from the five LGAs, 100 applicants were selected per area, ensuring a fair distribution of the 500 total beneficiaries.
Suleiman added that the foundation also made inclusivity and gender balance a priority, with 40% of the selected students being female and 60% male. This approach stressed HAM Foundation’s dedication to promoting equitable opportunities for all students.
Looking ahead, the foundation announced plans to expand the program with the Manko 2.0 and 3.0 Grant Awards.
It was stated that the future phases will focus on students in Kwara South and Kwara Central, providing opportunities to those who were not selected in the first phase.
In addition to tertiary education, the foundation stated that the Manko Grant covers various educational levels, including funding for exams such as WAEC, NECO, JAMB, and BECE for secondary school students, as well as common entrance exams for primary school students.
