Groups urge former aide to Kwara governor, Suleiman Gadaff to contest Afon constituency seat

A coalition of youth groups under the aegis of Kwara Civic Catalyst, in collaboration with Afon Youths, has called on Suleiman Lekan Gadaff to contest the Afon Constituency seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly.

They groups made the call during a press conference on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

The press briefing was themed “Afon Constituency Deserves More: A Call for Hon. Sulaimon Lekan Gadaff to Step Forward,”.

The groups, mostly youths expressed their confidence in the leadership capacity of Honourable Gadaff, noting his grassroots connection, and longstanding commitment to public service.

According to the groups, Gadaff who is a former Special Assistant to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on youth empowerment has built a strong relationship with communities across Asa Local Government Area where Afon constituency falls.

The groups believe that he also possesess qualities that are essentials for effective legislation and representation.

According to the groups, Honourable Gadaff has had tremendous imapct on the people within the consituency with several people-oriented interventions.

Some of the interventions include the repair of boreholes in nine different communities, multiple rounds of cash empowerment programmes for youths and women, and the distribution of food palliatives to elderly women.

They also noted his support for education through the provision of instructional materials, organisation of summer lessons on three occasions, and the award of scholarships to 30 students after each programme.

The coalition expressed optimism that his candidacy would usher in inclusive governance, create opportunities for young people, and drive meaningful development in Afon Constituency.

They also appealed to the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to support their call, citing his commitment to empowering credible and people-oriented individuals.
