Group supports call for APC Ilorin West LG Council Chair to be zoned to Magaji Ngeri constituency
Some elders of the All Progressive Congress in Magaji Ngeri have begged the leadership of the party to zone the Ilorin West LGA chairmanship slot to their constituency.
The members under APC Magaji Ngeri Constituency G32 Elders Forum decried the marginalization of their constituency in the affairs of governance.
The press statement, sent to THE INFORMANT247 on Thursday, jointly signed by its chairman, Engineer Laaro Hassan and acting publicity secretary, Alhaji Abdulyekeen Alao said the Governor, Senator representing Kwara Central, Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief of Staff to the Governor, the Commissioner representing Ilorin West LGA, Special Assistant to the Governor among others are from their sister constituency.
The statement read, “We commend the leadership of Magajingeri constituency chapter of the All Progressives Congress for their meritorious call on the leadership of the party to zone the Chairmanship of Ilorin West Local Government Council to our constituency and we equally support their call, as it was made in the interest of equity, justice and fairness.
“It is no longer news in political circle that Magajingeri constituency is being marginalized and neglected by the All Progressives Congress led government in the state; a situation that is evident in the position of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Minister of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, the Commissioner representing Ilorin West Local Government, Special Assistant to the Governor, atleast chairmanship of two state owned parastatals, some members of some state owned parastatals, the state secretary of the party and Ilorin West Local Government Party Chairman all being from Ilorin West/North Constituency otherwise known as Ajikobi/Alanamu constituency.
“Whereas, Magajingeri constituency can only boast of a Special Assistant to the Governor and two board membership position.
“In the light of the above, we support the call of Magajingeri constituency leadership for the Chairmanship of Ilorin West Local Government Council under the platform of the All Progressives Congress to be zoned to our constituency.
“We hereby call on all the ward executive committee members together with Local Government Executive Committee members within the constituency to reiterate the demand of the Constituency at every forum and meetings of the party, for their names to be written in gold as playing a positive role against the neglect and marginalization of the Constituency.
“We also appeal to the leader of the party in the State, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kwara State, the State Chairman Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress to atone the injustice already meted on us by the party by zoning the Chairmanship of Ilorin West Local Government to our constituency.”
