Group lauds Gov AbdulRazaq over SIP, community policing, others
A Kwara based group, Kwara Youth Center, today commended the Kwara State Governor, Mall AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the early preparation for community policing and social intervention programme among several projects embarked on by the new administration.
In a press statement signed by the group’s convener, Kayode Oyin-Zubair and sent to THE INFORMANT247, they disclosed that in order to complement the vigorous efforts of the governor on environmental issue, the group had embarked on evacuation of illegal dumpsites in Ilorin metropolis.
The statement read, “The summit resolved that, all States within the zone must come up with social intervention programmes – in an effort to engage the citizenry in profitable ventures that will ultimately reduce crime rate. It equally, reminded State governors, important role traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders will play while preparing grounds for its take off.
“It is heartwarming that, Kwara State governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq became the first among equals to initiate a comprehensive social intervention programme. Visionary leadership brought into governance by the governor makes it assuring that, his government will deliver prosperity, dignity and honour to all citizens of the State.
“The social intervention programme proposed by the government of Kwara State will not leave any category of people out, particularly the aged, unemployed youths, traders, artisans and so on.
“The same visionary leadership style of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq could be seen in the vigour and energy deployed to environmental issues in the State. The government has not only built modern public toilets but has a reasonable number of toilets proposed in the 2020 fiscal plan. This is moving ahead of others before open defecation is finally banned in 2025.
“The special task force working on environment has cleared no fewer that 20 life threatening illegal dump sites within Ilorin metropolis alone. Some of the dump sites pre date Nigeria’s independence. This is an effort tangential to safe, clean and hygienic environment. Kwara assuredly is on a path to be addressed as a State with healthy inhabitants.
They further implored traditional rulers to be part of the community policing by sourcing for credible persons within the community and sensitize their subjects on the necessity of the initiative.
“Our centre will continue to work with local communities on all issues that can foster development, peace and tranquility. We are confident that AbdulRazaq led administration will deliver a better Kwara that will be a pride to all and sundry.”
