Governor Abidoun gifts Tobi Amusan N5 million, house in Ijebu-Ode
The executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday presented the World Champion, Tobi Amusan a sum of Five million naira and a house in Ijebu-Ode.
Abiodun announced the donation while receiving the world record holder in his office at Okemosan,in Abeokuta the state capital.
The gesture, according to the Governor was in appreciation of her exemplary performances at the recent World Athletics championship event which held in Oregon, USA, and the commonwealth games in United Kingdom.
Governor Abiodun, who also used the occasion to appoint her as the state sport ambassador with the responsibility of mentoring women and girl child urged the youths to emulate the doggedness and hardwork of the sprinter who has gone from grass to grace.
Amusan thanked the Governor for his support to her career and urged the government at all levels to step up investment on sports for youth development. She also enjoined the youths to remain focused and determined in the pursuit of their careers.
Recall that Amusan was recently confered the National honour of Officer of the order of the Niger(OON) by President Muhammadu Buhari for her recent heroic and outstanding achievements in the global stage.
The Ijebu-Ode born ‘Queen of track’ was also recently made a brand ambassador by the Telecommunications giant, Globacom
