Governor AbdulRazaq donates N180m to families of fallen forest Guards,Vigilantes in Kwara
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has presented ₦80 million cheques to families of forest guards and vigilantes who lost their lives in encounters with kidnappers in Babanla, Oke Ode, and Eleyin areas of Ifelodun and Isin Local Government Areas.
The Governor also approved another ₦100 million support package for families of the community fighters from Edu and Patigi who were killed in an ambush in July while confronting kidnappers.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye on Monday.
Presenting the cheques in Ilorin at the weekend, AbdulRazaq praised the courage and patriotism of the fallen heroes, describing their deaths as a great loss to the state.

He assured continued government support for their families and reiterated his administration’s commitment to a safer Kwara.“We pray for the souls of the deceased. They died in active service to the state. The government will continue to support their families and strengthen security across Kwara,” he said.
He added that the government is collaborating closely with the military and other security agencies to flush out criminal elements from the state.The event was attended by top government officials, including Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu, and several local government chairmen.

Speakers at the event commended the Governor’s compassion and proactive measures to restore lasting peace.Meanwhile, the government has provided new logistics support, including motorcycles and combat equipment, to strengthen forest guards and community vigilantes in flashpoint areas — a move aimed at boosting their capacity to tackle kidnappers and safeguard rural communities.
