Gov. Ganduje closes down supermarket for rejecting old naira notes
The Consumer Protection Council of Kano State on Sunday, closed down popular supermarket, Wellcare, over refusal to accept old Naira notes.
The Acting chairman of the council, Baffa Babba Danagundi, said the supermarket was closed down following a directive from the Governor of the State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
He said this came as sellers and marketers were not welcoming the old naira notes from customers and which was contrary to the order given by the state government.
He said marketers and sellers need be accept the old naira notes as the state government still recognises them as legal tender in the state, and anyone who refuses the old naira notes would be dealt with.
Wellcare Alliance Limited wrote a letter of apology to the state government, shortly after the shut down requesting an immediate intervention to re-open the supermarket.
