The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello has imposed a curfew on the residents of Lambata, Gurara Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
This came following violence which triggered the murder of the village head of Lambata, Mohammed Abdulsafur.
This was confirmed by the Information Officer of the SSG’s Office, Lawal Tanko, in a statement released on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane.
Matane said the governor ordered that the curfew be placed on Lambata Town from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am starting from Sunday January 15th, 2023 till further notice.
The SSG also said that the decision was taken to help security agents to put the situation of the affected area under control, and restore normalcy in the affected area.
He said, “Government has condemned in strong terms the violence and act of lawlessness that have occurred in Lambata Town.”
The government also implored the residents of the affected area to comply with the order and regulations of the curfew to restore normalcy in the affected area.
