Gang leader flees as military rescue persons, apprehend suspected kidnappers in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Army in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has revealed that its men apprehended two suspected abductors and saved 5 victims on Monday.

The Assistant Director of the Army Public Relations, Captain Samuel Akari of the two Brigade Nigerian Army, made this revelation via a statement made available to newsmen.

Akari said that men of the army, in connection with police officers, raided the den of the kidnappers’ at Abia Palm, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the State.

He said that the abductors took over the bus which was transporting the victims to Ikot Ekpene from Port Harcourt, the capital of the state, on September 23.

He said, “During the operation, the leader of the kidnapping syndicate, simply identified as Jeam Nas escaped with an AK-47 rifle.

“While two other members of the syndicate, Imo Nkwo (23) and Thankgod Ezekiel (24) who attempted to escape were immobilized and arrested and their camp set ablaze.”

Akari also sent message of appeal to the public to help security agencies in Akwa Ibom with time to time information on the movements of abductors and other criminal elements for swift security intervention.
