Fuel scarcity: Kwara taskforce storms filling stations in Ilorin
The Kwara State Task Force led by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, on Saturday visited several filling stations in Ilorin metropolis as part of its efforts to ensure availability of fuel in the State.
The Informant247 earlier reported that the State Government, on Thursday set up a task force to proffer solution to fuel and naira scarcity in the state.
In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Modupe Joel, said that major filling stations that were not dispensing to the satisfaction of the motorists, tricyclists and motorcyclists were directed to do so with immediate effect and under close supervision.
It was gathered that the task force equally ensured that stations, which hoarded fuel before, were mandated to start dispensing, a step that has started easing the stress of the scarcity being experienced in recent times.
However, some Jerrycans containing hoarded premium motor spirit were also seized from some petrol stations by the task force, while cautioning against such behaviour which imposes untold hardship on the people.
The fuel stations were generally implored to support the government in building a peaceful society.
The Informant247 reports that the Kwara State government on Thursday held an emergency security council meeting to design strategies to maintain law and order amid biting fuel scarcity and currency swap challenge.
The task force, which was headed by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, had the Emir of Ilorin and other security agents in the committee to oversee the problem being faced by the people in relation to fuel and naira scarcity.
