One of the new recruits of the Federal Road Safety Corps recently underwent Training at one of the FRSC Training Academies spoke to the Informant247 on the condition of anonymity, she effusively recounted her ordeal and that of other in-takes totalling 3000 for the past six months in the Federal Road Safety Academy, Enugu State.
The training for the officer cadre resumed on the 9th January, 2019. Our source disclosed that extortions of varying degrees were carried out as they were coerced into paying for various materials and items which had already been captured in the 2017 budget.
She revealed that she was absolutely left astounded when she and her fellow recruits were made to pay for oath forms, handouts, uniforms and name tags.
The confidant, said the massive extortion and corruption by the corp’s echelon climaxed when all the trainees were forced to open salary accounts with a low profile microfinance bank known as “safeline” purportedly owned by Boboye Oyeyemi and other senior officers, alleging that the bank has poor capital base, no working ATM and has only one existing branch in the country located in Abuja.
She disclosed that they were handed meagre sum of 59,000 naira as training allowance for six months while sister agent such as Nigeria Immigration Service paid 950,000 naira to its newly commissioned officers as training allowance.
The newly commissioned officer appealed to all anti-corruption agencies to swiftly check the excesses of the Corp in order not to rob officers of sweats.
