A former female president of Liberia, Madame Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has deleted the congratulatory wishes earlier sent to the president elect, Senator Bola Tinubu following his victory in the February 25 presidential election.
The 24th president of Liberia from 2006 to 2018 was among the world leaders who sent congratulatory message to Tinubu following his emergence as winner of the presidential election.
She wrote: “Congratulation to @officialBAT on his victory in #Nigeri and to the Nigerian people for exercising their democratic right to vote. Y encourage the new president to champion #womenleades in his government and to ensure that the rights of men & girls remain a priority.”
Ellen made a u-turn as she deleted the earlier congratulatory wishes.
The reason she deleted the social media message was still unknown.
The Informant247 recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election.
According to INEC, Tinubu came victorious with 8.8 million votes.
The presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar came second with 6.9 million votes.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, had 6.1 million votes.
Atiku and Obi who were not comfortable with the outcome of the February 25 presidential election have filed petitions at the election tribunal to challenge the emergence of Tinubu as the Nigerian leader.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has engaged 12 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to defend the victory of the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the just concluded presidential election.
The party declared its readiness to defend the victory of the presidential candidate.
