Nigeria’s flying Eagles quest for winning the U-20 AFCON title for the eighth time has crashed on Monday after losing 0-1 to Gambia in the semi final of the competition ongoing in Egypt.
Striker Adama Bojang’s effort in the first half was all the Junior scorpions of the Gambia needed to sway off the Coach Ladan Bosso’s boys.
Although wholly dominated by flying Eagles, the Nigeria team’s apparent lack clinical finish in front of goal scuttle most of their goal chances.
And while Nigeria seemed close to leveling up with a penalty against the Gambians in the dying minutes of the game, Musa Abdullahi failed to score what would have redeemed their course and left his team more frustrated.
Nigeria will now face Tunisia in the third place final of the tournament and Senegal will square up against Gambia in the final for the trophy.
