Flood kills 24 persons, affects 18,245 others in Katsina

The Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has said that 24 persons have died, while 245 others were seriously victimized by flood and windstorm which have caused severe damages in the State.

The spokesperson of the agency, Mr Umar Muhammad, made this revelation while addressing newsmen in Katsina on Friday.

He revealed that all the 34 local government areas were seriously victimized by the flood/ disaster.

He explained that flood has inflicted severe injuries on several other persons.

He added that about 16, 625 houses were affected by the flood/ disaster.

The mouthpiece of the agency said properties of about millions of naira and farm produce were affected as a result of the disaster.

He further stated that, “The agency had already assessed the affected houses and farmlands in order to assist the victims. The State government will soon start distribution of relief assistance to the flood victims.”

He has given assurance that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), would soon donate and distribute relief materials to the affected people to neutralize the effect.
