Fire razes factory in Ilorin
Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed on Wednesday when fire gutted a paint chemical company along Lubcon Avenue Street in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Although the cause of the fire, which started around 10:26 pm, could not be ascertained, it was learnt that the factory building was razed.
Confirming the incident, the Head, Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said, “Even before the arrival of the firemen, the ravaging fire had destroyed properties including the factory building structure as a result of combustion rate, due to the chemical nature of the materials that were on fire. However, the fire officers were able to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to the adjacent buildings in the vicinity area.”
He added that the prompt response of firefighters curtailed the spread of the inferno, adding that there were no casualties.
He quoted the fire service director as urging “the general public to be more safety-conscious, and always be brothers’ keeper in case of any emergency”.
