13 rooms, 3 shops razed in Offa

A ravaging inferno gutted 2 shops in a residential building comprised of about 13 rooms and 3 shops in Offa last Friday 9th April, 2021.
The fire outbreak occurred about 1 p.m last Friday, at Emiola Area, along Osunte Street in Offa, before the Kwara State Fire Service was summoned to the scene of occurrence by one Mr. Jamiu through a telephone call.
On our arrival of the firemen at the incident, the fire was still raging and had destroyed two shops including the properties kept in there, and already heading toward the main building.
However, the firemen were able to rescue the building from the scathefire and the inferno was eliminated.
Although, the rescued building didn’t burn but its walls had been covered with fire soot due to the heavy smoke from the burning shops.
The report says, the fire was caused as a result of electric sparks in the socket of one of those affected shops.
Therefore, the officer led the fire service team to the scene, ACFS James Oyeyipo, earnestly warned both the residents of the building and people in the community area against the improper usage of electric sockets, in order to prevent subsequent future fire outbreaks that might be caused by electric sockets in the neighborhood.
Finally, The Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa (CFO) urged the general public to always stick to all the safety teachings given by the fire officers.
