Fire outbreak wreaks havoc in Ilorin

A devastating fire incident on Friday night destroyed a twin 3-bedroom flat at Al-Jazeera Street, MFM, Tanke, Ilorin.

It was revealed that a power surge caused the fire outbreak.

According to a statement by Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, the fire, which started at about 11:30 pm, completely engulfed the building due to the delayed alert of the firemen.

He said, “The operation lasted several hours and required the replenishment of water supplies at the brigade headquarters during the firefighting process. Unfortunately, the fire consumed the entire building, including three rooms in the boys’ quarters.”

“The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, sympathized with the affected residents and reiterated the importance of adhering to fire safety and electrical precautionary measures. We urge the public to act promptly in reporting fire emergencies to minimize losses,” the statement added
