Fire outbreak destroys shops in Ilorin
A commercial building, consisting of nine shops on Sunday gutted by fire at Joseph Duntoye Street, Tipper Garage, Tanke Area, Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State.
It was gathered that the inferno, which occurred at exactly 1:12 pm., was caused by a power surge, causing serious damage one shop at the building.
Confirming the incident in a statement released by the spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said timely response of the Fire Service prevented the “fire from spreading to the remaining shops in the building and adjoining structures, thereby saving valuable properties from destruction.”
The statement also quoted the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, urging members of the public to always prioritize electrical safety and ensure proper maintenance of wiring systems to avoid fire outbreaks.
