Fire guts shop in Ilorin

The ALBARKA CHICKEN FEED in Ilorin, on Wednesday, caught fire.

The burnt shop, a place where poultry feedings are being sold, is located opposite Western Reservoir, along Olohunsogo area in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.

The cause of the fire outbreak, which occurred on Thursday, was attributed to an electrical power surge.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the shop caught by fire comprised of five huge containers loaded with goods.

He added, “Out of these containers in the shop, only two containers were affected due to the promptness of State Fire Service, and the systematic approach used while tackling the ranging inferno.

“The incident occurred around 23:11hrs of today, when an unknown sympathizer suddenly summoned the Brigade to the scene ground through an exchange telephone call.

The cause of the incident was as a result of electric spark in the wiring of the shop.

The fire service urged residents “to be more safety cautious”.
