A residential building of about seven bedrooms and five shops has been gutted by fire in Ilorin.
The cause of the fire outbreak, which occurred about 10:35hrs on Monday, was attributed electric power surge.
The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the incident happened at No. 28 Reservation Road GRA.
“A shop affected in the building, however, the firemen were able to perform excellently well to minimize the damage, therefore other rooms/shops in the building including many tangible properties were saved from the scathed fire,” Adekunle said.
He quoted the fire boss, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa as urging residents to always cultivate the habit of switching off their electrical appliances before the bedtime, saying “this would help them to prevent the chances of fire outbreaks in their various homes.”
