N80bn fraud: Finance minister suspends Accountant General indefinitely

The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, has been suspended till further notice.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, suspended Idris on Wednesday.

His suspension was as a result of the allegation of fraud worth N80 billion leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwajaren, confirmed Idris’s arrest on Monday.

The arrest came after he refused to honour the invitations of the EFCC.

The anti-graft agency said that the alleged diverted funds and laundered N80billion.
