FIFA approves Ademola Lookman’s application to switch national allegiance
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that FIFA, the international football regulatory body, has granted Leicester City FC midfielder Ademola Lookman’s application to transfer national association allegiance.
Lookman, according to Ademola Olajire, NFF’s Director of Communications, might represent Nigeria at the world level with this clearance, according to a statement released on Thursday.
He stated that Emilio Silveiro, FIFA’s Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, communicated the judgement of the Single Judge of the Status Chamber of the Football Tribunal to the NFF on Thursday.
“The NFF’s request for the player Ademola Olajide Lookman to change associations has been accepted.”
“The player is now (immediately) able to participate for the NFF’s representative teams,” Olajire quoted Silveiro as saying.
He also reported NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi as applauding the Federation’s record-breaking approval of Lookman’s application.
“We submitted the application on Wednesday night after gathering all of the required papers.” “We are delighted to have received clearance today,” Sanusi stated in response to the news.
Only in December 2021 did FIFA approve the NFF’s appeal for Ashleigh Plumptre to swap allegiances and represent Nigeria internationally.
Lookman and Plumptre have both played for England at various youth levels.
