FG suspends NSSEC boss over alleged financial corruption

The federal government has suspended the Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Prof. Benjamin Abakpa over alleged misappropriation of fund.

This was announced in a signed letter by Andrew David Adejo, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education.

Prof. Abakpa has been directed to relinquish the authority to the most senior officer in the commission.

The development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the NSSEC, Fatima Bappare.

Bappare said Abakpa was accused of financial misappropriation, administrative ineptitude and lack of synergy.

He was suspended from office till the conclusion of further investigation.

The board has invited the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) to launch an investigation into the affairs of and the allegations against the suspended officer.

Mr. Abdulkareem Ibraheem, who’s the most senior Director in the Commission has been directed to take control of the affairs of the Commission till the conclusion of the investigation.
