The federal government has postponed the forthcoming 7th National Youth Games (NYG) programmed to hold at Asaba, the capital of Delta State in February.
The federal government effected the postponement through the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development (FMYSD).
The Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed Manga, in a statement released on behalf of Ismaila Abubakar, the Permanent Secretary, said the national event was postponed due to the forthcoming General Elections.
“The postponement is due to logistics and time constraints, especially, taking cognisance of the commencement of the General Elections slated for February 25, 2023.
“ While regretting all the inconveniences the postponement might cause its stakeholders, a new date for the Games will be announced after the elections,” he said.
The Informant247 observes that the national games was earlier programmed to take place from Feb. 8 to Feb. 18.
