The charge of illegal possession of firearms filed against the ousted governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele on Tuesday, withdrew by the Federal Government.
According to Justice Mohammed Bakodo Abubakar, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Federal Ministry of Justice, who approached the federal high court sitting in Ikoyi with an oral application, the withdrawal followed the result of further investigations, adding that the fresh charges with 20 counts had been filed against Emefiele at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Abubakar disclosed this while speaking with newsmen after the day’s proceedings.
The Informant247 had reported that the suspended CBN, Emefiele was on July 25, at a federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on “illegal possession of firearms”.
