Exclusive: Winner to get #1 million prize money as Awoniyi plans huge football tournament

Nigeria international and Nottingham forest forward, Taiwo Awoniyi is set to sponsor a football tournament. 

The Informant247 scoops that the tournament will involve 26 teams and  invitation has been sent out  to all participating clubs.

The football competition will be organised by Unicorn football Academy, the Academy where Awoniyi cut his football career.

While there is no registration fee attached to participation for the invited teams, the tournament is tagged “Never stop dreaming” – the motto of the Academy.

All group stage matches of the tournament will be held at Sheikh Abdulqodri College football pitch Ilorin while semi finals and the final games will take place at the Kwara Football Academy Pitch.

While N1 million naira has been set aside for the winner, N750,000 will be given to the  runners-up and the third place winner will get
N500,000.

Also, a complete football jersey, two balls each and a set of bib will be given to all the participating teams. The best player and highest goal scorer of the tournament will smile home with N100,000 prize money each alongside a pair of boot each.

Two finalists goalkeepers will also receive a pair of boots each and glove.

However, the organisers are yet to reveal a dateline for the tournament.

Among many other things, the football fiesta is aimed at discovery new football talents and also provide an oppurtuinity to maximize their potentials.

In 2021, the Awoniyi facilitated a scouting tournament where Football Agents from Belgium visited Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
