EXCLUSIVE: Hoodlums attack Kwara APC chair, Bolarinwa’s convoy in Moro

Hoodlums on Tuesday attacked the convoy of the All Progressive Congress Chairman in Kwara State, Mr Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa at Shao in Moro axis of Kwara State.

According to eyewitness who spoke to THE INFORMANT247, the convoy was just entering the community when it came under ferocious attack.

The APC chairman was said to be going for a reconciliation meeting, as part of his tour across the 16 local government areas to resolve internal crisis rocking the party, before the incident.

The witness stated that as the convoy was driving in, hoodlums, numbering about 20, chased and threw stones at Bolarinwa’s vehicles.

Some of the hoodlums were said to be clutching daggers and machetes, throwing pebbles at the convoy and shouting “Bolarinwa Ole, Bolarinwa Ole” meaning, “Bolarinwa is a thief”.

The rear windscreen of a bus conveying some party members was shattered.

Some occupants of the bus sustained minor injuries caused by the shattered glass.

The hoodlums were said to have continued to advance towards the convoy for further attacks, before security details in the convoy engaged them.

They later beat a hurried retreat while the convoy managed to escape.

However, Bolarinwa and people in other vehicles did not sustain injuries.

Speaking with an inside source privy to the party’s information, he stated that the fight was not unconnected with the crisis rocking the party.

He alleged that the hoodlums were suspected member of a group loyal to a cheiftain of the party and staunch supporter of the governor, Illyasu Moro.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Governor have been engrossed in a fight for the control of the soul of the party in the state.

Bolarinwa is a staunched loyalist of the Minister.
