Exaggerating security reports could hinder investments in Kwara, Gov AbdulRazaq warns

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has cautioned the people against exaggerating security reports about the state, warning that it could affect investments and developments.

During a meeting with Ifelodun stakeholders on Monday, the governor detailed his efforts to enhance infrastructure development while ensuring the safety of residents for shared prosperity.

He expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their engagement, urging citizens to be mindful of the implications that exaggerated security claims might have on investment and development in the region.

“I assure you of our efforts to eliminate the threats. As we work together to make our communities safer, I want to advise that investments may be affected if we don’t strike a balance in how we project our communities to the outside world,” he stated.

Governor AbdulRazaq also mentioned that there are several developmental initiatives in the works, encouraging stakeholders to engage with the government constructively.

He acknowledged ongoing collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and all security agencies, emphasizing that significant efforts are being made to eradicate security threats in Ifelodun, Patigi, and Edu.

He listed some ongoing and proposed projects in Ifelodun, including the Ajase-Ipo-Oke Ode-Sagbe road and Orisa bridge, among others.

The governor lauded community-led initiatives, such as the ICT Centre in Igbaja.

The meeting, led by council chairman Hadji Femi Yusuf, included various local leaders, including former public officers, monarchs, clerics, and youth representatives. They commended the governor’s proactive measures regarding security and development in the region.

“We appreciate the swift response and unwavering support of the state government in collaboration with the office of the National Security Adviser, in adopting multi-layered strategies to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace to our affected communities,” Yusuf said.

Former House of Representatives member Alhaji Kola Yusuf and Elder Oyin Zubair, representing the delegation, expressed gratitude for the governor’s visible efforts in enhancing security and development in Ifelodun.

“We are very grateful to Your Excellency for your visible efforts. We can see it, and we thank you. After chasing these criminals away, we need to also get their promoters and informants,” Yusuf added. Oyin Zubair called for government support for those affected by recent incidents, expressing confidence in the recent security deployments to restore calm permanently.
