Describing his choice as one filled with “mixed emotions,” the 36-year-old expressed deep gratitude to everyone who played a pivotal role in his football journey.
He acknowledged the support of agents, sports journalists, coaches, teammates, and the fans who stood by him through both the highs and lows of his career.
Ideye’s journey took him across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, where he played for top clubs including Dynamo Kyiv, West Bromwich Albion, and Olympiakos.

In his emotional farewell, Ideye reflected on the moments that defined his time in the sport, stating, “The game gave me everything: incredible joy, sad days, the opportunity to travel and see the world, lifelong friendships, and so many unforgettable memories.”
He especially cherished being part of the Super Eagles squad that clinched the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title under the late coach Stephen Keshi, marking a significant chapter in Nigerian football history.
