Ex-NNPC boss Mele Kyari in EFCC custody over refinery fund mismanagement

Mele Kyari, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), is currently being interrogated at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.

Daily Trust confirms that Kyari, who was previously placed on a watchlist, arrived around 2:30 PM on Wednesday.

Sources from within the commission indicate that Kyari is set to explain matters concerning funds designated for the maintenance of Nigerian refineries during his leadership.

“Yes, he’s in our office. He will be ushered into where he will face interrogation by the crack detectives of the commission,” a high-placed source told our correspondent.

Additionally, a Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier frozen all bank accounts linked to Kyari at the behest of the EFCC.
