Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

Ex-Kwara APC spokesperson berates Gov AbdulRazaq for abandoning road project in Offa

The former publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Kwara State Chapter, Alhaji Folaranmi Tajudeen Aro, has decried the deplorable condition of Rondo road, Offa, linking Ikotun villages in Asa Local Government Area of the state.

Aro, in a statement he personally signed, appealed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to urgently complete the road before the rainy season as it was long overdue.

The statement reads in part, “Rondo Road in Offa was named after a very popular GNLD merchant, Alh Rabiu Rondo of late memory. It is also a link road to Ikotun and towns and villages in Asa Local Gov of Kwara state. Its economic benefit cannot be overemphasised as it hosted some big commercial farms owned by private individuals, including the Olofa of Offa, Alh Isiaka, Yinka Adebiyi and a host of other people. What purpose to be an easy ride will take people a wasteful drive before linking up Ikotun road.”

“The good people of Ikotun and residents of this abandoned road have made several passionate appeals without any good response from the government. Presently, the condition of the road is fast deteriorating, which puts an additional financial burden on the government and at the same time health risk on the people living along this road.”

The former APC spokesperson opined that the road, if completed, will be the second major project in Offa by Governor Abdulrazaq after almost six years in office.

“I, therefore, call on the governor to please remove all hindrances and complete the road to the satisfaction of the people of Offa and residents along the road,” the statement added

However, when contacted by The Informant247 for comment, Alhaji Aro said the governor had started the project in 2019 and had yet to complete it.

When asked if the crisis rocking the APC in Kwara significantly impacted why the project was abandoned,  Aro said, “APC crisis started six months ago, and this has nothing to do with the project started and abandoned by the governor without any tangible reason.”
