Oyun Water works to begin operation soon – KWSG

The Kwara State government has said that the Oyun Water Works which is located at Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government will soon begin operation.

Dr.(Mrs.) Risikatullahi Mopelola Abdulmaliq-Bashir, the commissioner for Water Resources stated this at the weekend during her visit to Ijagbo to inspect the ongoing facility.

In a statement released by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Adamu Mohammed Saidu, said the test run is the final stage of the renovation and rehabilitation work being embarked upon by the state government at the Oyun water works.

It was gathered that the commissioner, has been carrying the spot assessment of all the ongoing water projects in the state in the past few weeks.

Abdulmaliq-Bashir explained that the rehabilitation work at Oyun Water Works has reached about 78 percent completion,while also directed the contractor handling the project to test run the facility to alleviate the problem of water supply in the area.

Abdulmaliq-Bashir, who also paid inspection visits to Erin-Ile and Ira water works, pledged the state government’s determination to complete the two projects in due course, saying rehabilitation of Erin-Ile water works has reached about 85 percent completion, while the level of work at Ira water works is put at 70 percent completion.

Meanwhile, the representative of Peace One Limited and the contractor handling the Oyun water project, Engr. Mohammed Bello Awwal promised to give a final touch on the rehabilitation work.
