Everton awaits scan results on Iwobi’s injury
Frank Lampard is hopeful Alex Iwobi’s ankle ligament injury is “not too serious” after confirming the Everton midfielder will go for a scan on Saturday.
Iwobi fell awkwardly after a challenge from defender Tyrell Malacia early in the second half of Everton’s 3-1 FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United.
The Nigeria international was replaced by Abdoulaye Doucoure in the 51st minute after being taken off on a stretcher where he was seen apparently sobbing.
Speaking at Old Trafford after the contest, Lampard told evertontv: “We hope it’s not too serious.
“It is an ankle ligament injury, we hope it’s a lesser one. He will have a scan tomorrow to confirm.”
The Nigeria Super Eagles has been a key part of Everton’s project lately due to his working rates.
